March 28, 2006 - EO Series Review Update

MEOA has been meeting and consistently discussing the Environment Officer review with MGEU.

December 8, 2005 – MEOA sent an email informing EOs that for assistance with interpreting any written correspondence from Human Resources or would like to consider job action we encourage you to contact your local Regional MGEU.

December 12, 2005 – Environment Officers received a letter stating their slotting within the new series.

December 21, 2005 - The Union filed a Province wide grievance respecting the new classification specifications for the EO Series review. Union reps advise the grievance included the following clauses:

  • Cease and desist implementation of the new classification specifications

  • Cease and desist the slotting of employees under the new classification specifications

  • Any member affected will remain at the current classification specification

  • Notification be revoked

The MGEU advises that third party arbitration would be the appropriate grievance process for this situation.

January 24, 2006 – MEOA sent at letter to Human Resources outlining concerns of the series review and impacts to the Environment Officers.

February 20, 2006 – A pre arbitration meeting was held with Shelley Neele and Rick Farley representing MGEU on behalf of the EO’s.  Tanya Cole-Hiebert represented management/compensation services.  The meeting was called to review the EO Series and the MGEU grievance with respect to ongoing negotiation with management and compensation services.
